The Kola land in the time of revolution and Civil War
(1917 - 1920)

On the 3d of April Romanov-na-Murmane was renamed in Murmansk.

On the 26th of October the Soviet power was claimed here. In this time Englishmen, Frenchmen and Americans who were on Murman and refused from the cooperation with Soviet power, decided to cooperate with local authorities of Murmansk by providing them with fuel and food. Finns and Germans threaten Murman: enemy submarines acted in the Barents Sea and troops were concentrated on the North of Finland.

On the 2nd of March of 1918 "Oral agreement about joint actions of Englishmen, Frenchmen and Russians on Defense of the Murmansk Land" was made. On the base of this agreement landing of foreign descants started.

Interventionists 1919

Central bolshevist power signed a peaceful agreement with Germany and went out of the war. In June of 1918 the Murmansk land was separated from Soviet Russia. In August of the same year Murman became the part of antibolshivists Northern Region with its center in Arkhangelsk. Authorities tried to build democratic model of development, but their attempt to find "the third way" was not very successful.

In the autumn of 1919 allies left the Russian North, and the Northern Region fell without their support.

On the 21ts of February of 1920 Soviet power was established in Murmansk.
